CVD-200 Vacuum Freeze Dryer (2㎡) | Yuanxian Machinery
Yuanxian CVD-200 vacuum freeze dryer, 2㎡ drying area, 20kg batch capacity, cold trap temperature -45~-65℃, ultimate vacuum below 10Pa, full freeze-dryin...
源鲜 CVD-200 is a vacuum freeze dryer with a drying area of 2㎡, capable of loading 20kg of material per batch. It first freezes the material below the eutectic point, then in a vacuum environment allows ice to sublimate directly into water vapor. The cold trap temperature is -45~-65°C, the ultimate vacuum level is below 10Pa, and a complete freeze-drying cycle takes about 24 hours. The freeze-dried finished product is loose and porous, with its shape basically unchanged, good rehydration, and can be stored long-term at room temperature in sealed packaging. To first see the entire freeze dryer series, you can visit the vacuum freeze dryer page; this small model is also suitable for pilot testing within the approach of home and R&D freeze dryers.
Where it is used
| Material type | Typical uses | Why it is suitable |
|---|---|---|
| Fruit and vegetable products | Strawberry, blueberry, mango, durian freeze-dried pieces, freeze-dried vegetables, mushrooms | Low-temperature dehydration, color, aroma and rehydration are well preserved |
| Meat, poultry and aquatic products | Freeze-dried meat granules, pet snacks, instant soup ingredient packs | Oxygen-free in the drying chamber, reducing fat oxidation and browning |
| Health products and specialty local products | Royal jelly, ginseng, seasoning soup blocks, local specialties | Low-temperature sublimation, heat-sensitive components are not easily damaged |
| Formula testing and premium small-batch | New product pilot testing, laboratory formula exploration, small-batch premium production | 2㎡ area with small loading capacity and short cycle, fast turnover when changing varieties |
Loading is empirically 8~12kg per square meter of tray area; the 2㎡ model handles 16~24kg per batch, with the nominal value calculated as 20kg. Loading too thick will prolong the cycle, which can be seen intuitively during the sample testing stage.
How freeze-drying is done (vacuum freeze-drying process)
| Stage | What is done | Key temperature / vacuum |
|---|---|---|
| ① Pre-freezing | Freeze the material solid together with the tray, lowering the temperature below the eutectic point so that all moisture inside the material becomes solid ice | Shelves can be lowered to about -35°C |
| ② Vacuum pumping | Start the vacuum pump and evacuate the drying chamber to the working vacuum level | Ultimate vacuum level below 10Pa |
| ③ Sublimation drying (primary drying) | Shelf heating, ice sublimates directly into water vapor without passing through the liquid state | Shelf about 30°C, material temperature below the eutectic point |
| ④ Desorption drying (secondary drying) | Continue raising temperature to remove residual bound water and reach the target moisture content | Shelf raised to 30~50°C according to the material |
| ⑤ Water vapor condenser condensation | The cold trap re-condenses the sublimated water vapor into ice and discharges it | Cold trap -45~-65°C |
| ⑥ Defrosting and unloading | Hot water spray defrosting, after defrosting take out the finished product | Hot water spray defrosting |
Throughout the process, the shelf temperature can be set between -55~120°C. For materials with high moisture content, extending primary drying makes the finished product more uniform. The eutectic point and moisture content of different materials vary considerably. Before formal production, it is recommended to first conduct small-batch sample testing and establish the curve.

Frequently asked questions
1. How long is one cycle of CVD-200? The standard design is about 24 hours; actual time varies with material moisture content and loading amount. Fruits and vegetables with high moisture content will extend primary drying somewhat.
2. How much material can one unit hold? At 8~12kg loading per square meter of tray area, the 2㎡ model handles 16~24kg per batch, with the nominal value calculated as 20kg. The thicker the loading, the longer the cycle.
3. Is the cold trap temperature low enough? The metal adsorption surface of the water vapor condenser can reach a working temperature of -45~-65°C, sufficient to re-condense the sublimated water vapor into ice and protect the vacuum pump from water vapor emulsification.
4. What are the power supply and site requirements? Standard configuration is 380V / 50Hz / 3P; export models can be customized to local voltage and frequency. Whether the refrigeration unit is water-cooled or air-cooled depends on site conditions; water cooling requires a cooling tower and cooling water pump.
5. Should I do sample testing first or go directly to production? It is recommended to first conduct small-batch sample testing. The eutectic point and moisture content of different materials vary considerably. Understanding the curve first before arranging batch production makes the yield more stable.
