Home & Lab Freeze Dryer — HFD Series (0.25–5 m²)
HFD series home and lab vacuum freeze dryers, 0.25–5 m² of shelf area and 2–60 kg per batch, on single-compressor or dual-compressor platforms.

Home & Lab Freeze Dryer — 0.25 m² to 5 m²
Not every project needs a 50 m² production line. A farm kitchen drying fruit and herbs, a lab developing a formulation, a workshop testing a product before scaling up — what they need is a machine that plugs into a normal socket, runs a repeatable cycle, and doesn’t carry a production line’s price.
The HFD series covers that range: 0.25 m² to 5 m² of shelf area, 2 kg to 60 kg of fresh material per batch, on two compressor platforms. If you are looking for a full production freeze dryer instead, the CVD industrial range starts at 0.4 m² and goes up to 50 m².
Two Platforms, One Range
- Single-compressor models (HFD-1 ~ HFD-10) — cold trap -60°C, 0.25–1.0 m², 2–15 kg per batch, 1,500–2,850 W. For fruit, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms and small lab samples.
- Dual-compressor models (HFD-15 ~ HFD-50) — cold trap -75°C, 1.5–5 m², 15–60 kg per batch, 3,000–7,500 W. Lower trap temperature and faster pull-down; steadier capture on high-sugar and liquid loads.
The cold trap is what decides how much water vapour the machine can take out of the product. It has to stay cold enough to freeze the vapour before it reaches the vacuum pump — that is why the trap temperature, not the compressor count, is the first number to match against your material.

Batch capacity is the fresh (pre-freeze) load per cycle; water capture is the cold trap’s 24-hour capacity. Prices are per unit in USD, freight, insurance and import duties excluded. Tray material and voltage customisation can change the price.
Chamber, Vacuum and Control
🧊 Chamber and Shelves
SUS304 stainless steel chamber and shelves, six heating shelf layers with 35 mm spacing for in-place pre-freezing and programmed drying. Trays in stainless steel or aluminium — stainless for wet and acidic loads, aluminium for lighter unit weight.
🌀 Vacuum
Ultimate vacuum < 2 Pa. The HFD-5 needs an external vacuum pump; built-in pump versions are available on the HFD-20 / HFD-25 / HFD-35 / HFD-50.
🌡️ Temperature
Drying temperature range -45°C to +60°C, set and held by the program. Cold trap -60°C or -75°C depending on platform.
⚡ Power and Installation
220V / 50Hz as standard; 110V or 380V built to order with the matching plug. Air-cooled — no cooling water required. Ambient 10–35°C, humidity ≤70%, away from conductive dust and explosive or corrosive gas. Noise ≤60 dB (≤80 dB on HFD-50).

Where the HFD Series Fits
- Home and farm kitchens — fruit, vegetables, herbs, mushrooms, pet treats. Cycle time follows the material and slice thickness; we send the drying curve for your product.
- Labs and R&D — formulation trials, sample preservation, small-batch validation before production scale-up.
- Liquid products — from HFD-15 upward, the -75°C trap handles liquid loads better. Give us the solids content and we will match a recipe.
- Small workshops — trial production and operator training before a larger CVD line is installed.
- Herbal and cosmetic extracts — small-batch drying trials where the batch has to be kept intact.
How to Choose a Model
Three numbers decide it:
- Fresh weight per batch — the kilos that go in, not the dried output. HFD-1 takes 2–3 kg, HFD-50 takes 50–60 kg.
- Material type — solid slices dry on the single-compressor platform; liquids and high-sugar pastes are better on the -75°C dual-compressor platform from HFD-15 up.
- Moisture content and thickness — these set the cycle length and the loading per tray, which is why we ask for them rather than quoting a fixed hours figure.
Shelf area, batch capacity and unit footprint all rise together across the range, so the model that fits your batch weight usually fits your bench or floor space as well. Check the unit size column against the space you have before ordering.

FAQ
What is the difference between the single-compressor and dual-compressor models? Single-compressor units (HFD-1 to HFD-10) hold a -60°C cold trap over 0.25–1.0 m²; dual-compressor units (HFD-15 to HFD-50) reach -75°C over 1.5–5 m². The lower trap temperature pulls down faster and holds up better on high-sugar and liquid loads.
What does batch capacity mean? It is the fresh, pre-freeze load per cycle. Water capture is listed separately as the cold trap’s 24-hour capacity.
Does it need cooling water or a dedicated room? No. The series is air-cooled and runs on a standard 220V single-phase supply. Operate it between 10–35°C and up to 70% relative humidity.
Can it dry liquids? From HFD-15 upward, yes — the -75°C trap is the reason. Send the solids content and we will match a recipe.
How is the unit packed for export? Export packing and freight are quoted per destination. Tell us the port or address in your enquiry and it will be included in the offer.
